Waldbahn Cycle Trail: From Two Wheels to the Tracks
The Waldbahn (forest railway) Cycle Route in the Bavarian Forest: relaxing cycling along one of the most beautiful railway lines in Bavaria. Children especially enjoy a trip on the train as the perfect end to a successful cycling trip.
The Waldbahn Cycle Route goes from Patersdorf to Deggendorf. It connects the river cycle routes with the Danube valley, so that a cycling tour offers everything from water to meadows and forests.
From Patersdorf, the route continues via Ruhmannsfelden and Gotteszell to Unterried, the highest point on the route at 619 metres. After this (gentle) exertion, the cycling is almost all downhill – via Grub, Diessenbach, Grafling, Großtriefenbach and Kandelbach to Deggendorf.
A Short Break on the Waldbahn
Anyone who gets short of breath along the way can do parts of the route on the train. There are stations at Deggendorf, Gotteszell and Regen.
The train ride through the Grafling valley is just as exciting as the trip home.
