"All aboard!" the Local Railway Museum in Bayerisch Eisenstein

It is a matter for debate, whether the old times were really better. But one thing is certain: railway journeys used to be more exciting and emotional. The Local Railway Museum in Bayerisch Eisenstein proves it.

The 7 track turntable house with its wings was built in 1877 in the typical style of the East Bavarian Railways. The walls are granite and it has a unique atmosphere as well as many original exhibits.

At the entrance, visitors are given their tickets in the form of old fashioned train tickets. A room from the 1920s is the first step into the past.

I want to be an engine driver!
Almost 20 steam, diesel and electric locomotives, railway cars, passenger carriages and goods wagons. Also hand cars, signal boxes, signals, alarm bells. Many more historical exhibits are displayed before moving on to the turntable, cinder pit and water standpipes.

Parents of boys should be prepared: After a visit to the museum, these young men will be sure to want a model train set.
